2018 NFL season begins

It is back to football for the professionals as the NFL kicks off tonight. Who will the Patriots face in the AFC championship game and what team will make it in the NFC? These are my vague predictions for this upcoming year as I’ve sort of given up on the NFL sure I’ll turn on the games on Sunday but there is no real parity in the league sure they all share money but I doubt the Browns are going to be going to make the playoffs this year.

Predictions:

AFC East: Patriots will win the division for the tenth time in a row, Tom Brady has just said that he wants to play until he is 45 so he can become the oldest NFC quarterback. Bills and Jets have real young QBs in Peterman and Darnold. The Dolphins

AFC North: It is still a three team division Steelers/Ravens/Bengals with the Browns in the cellar. All three could make the Playoffs

AFC South: Hopefully, the Texans can stay healthy it’s theirs to loose and could the Jaguars actually do good two years in a row. The Titans and Colts have new head coaches so who can tell what will happen with them.

AFC West: So I highly doubt that the Chiefs will repeat as champions as they have Pat Mahomes and Chad Henne at QB. The Raiders have an old new coach as Jon Gruden returns after over a decade and they hope to recapture what Gruden did last time.  The Broncos picked up Case Keenum, who lead Minnesota almost to the Super Bowl, and might have a chance and the Chargers still play in LA for some reason.

NFC East: It won’t be the Eagles as no team has repeated as division winner since 2005, so it could be any team, although I doubt that the Giants with a new head coach and still Eli Manning as QB will win, it could be The Cowboys or Redskins.

NFC North: The Vikings with Kirk Cousins might have a chance to repeat as division winner but that could become something different as the Bears signed Khalil Mack and the Packers still have Aaron Rogers. However the Bears and Lions have new head coaches so it looks like it’s between the Packers and Vikings again.

NFC South: New Orleans or Carolina I guess will win it, or perhaps Atlanta might make a run for it. Tampa will be looking at who to draft at the top of next years draft.

NFC West: This is by the eye test the most competitive division in the NFC with Seattle, the Rams, 49ers seem to all have good teams,

Playoff picks:

AFC: New England, Pittsburgh, Houston, Denver with Baltimore and Cincinnati as the wild cards
NFC: Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans, LA Rams with Minnesota or San Francisco and Seattle as the wild cards
