2016, Year end review

Celeb Deaths: It has been a rough year filled with significant Celebrity deaths by a rough count at least 25 big names this past year and sure it’s sad but in 2015 about twenty big stars died. Sure we’ve lost some huge names this year and so close to one another. It began with David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Abe Vigoda and closes with George Michael, Carrie Fisher and Richard Adams sure there were some huge names in between like Prince and Gene Wilder but it just goes with the times. It is a shame that we lost so many of them this year.

Highlights: Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus, head of the Russian Orthodox Church met and issued a Joint Ecumenical Declaration. The US and China ratified the Paris Agreement, to reduce carbon output, this is huge news as they are two of the biggest carbon using nations and the Carbon Dioxide levels exceeded 400 ppm the highest it’s ever been during the usual low time of the year.  There will be a new President in this upcoming year. US and Cuba relations began to thaw. Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey’s Circus ended the Elephant Act. Cleveland finally won a Championship in Basketball the first for the city since 1964 and the lovable Losers from Chicago the Cubs, finally took home a World Series championship the first in over a century.

Lowlights: A bunch of Terrorist Attacks, Racism and Gun violence are still big issues in America. England voted to leave the EU, The United States elected Trump president.

We’ve had some good news and some bad but that is bound to happen, but as long as the good outweighs the bad stuff I’d say that’s a positive in the long run. Lets hope that 2017 and we can do better in this upcoming year
