Gene Wilder

There has been some sad news that came out on Monday as Gene Wilder, the brilliant comic actor, screenwriter and director has passed away. I first got hooked on Wilder after watching his brilliant performance as Leo Bloom in Mel Brook’s The Producers, it is one of my favorite films of all time. This lead me to watch the other Mel Brooks films that he was in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein which he also wrote. On top of all these films with Brooks, Wilder did several films with Richard Pryor these are also great and some of the best Pryor and Wilder are a unique duo. Of course there is also the Willy Wonka standing in the corner which I am sure everyone has seen at least one Mel Stuart’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is another fun film. All in all Gene Wilder will be missed but he will live on in some memorable film performances. If you haven’t seen a film with Gene Wilder in sometime make some time to do this Turner Classic Movies is having a night of remembrance on the 29th of September.
