Fiddler on the Roof: This is a very interesting article in the New York Times about the title character in the musical. As there is a unique relationship between the fiddler character and the orchestra since I believe that most of the time the music from the fiddle is played by the 1st violin. Sure it makes sense when you look at it but I thought that they just got someone who could play the fiddle and call it a day. The article offers some details on how they work out the playing since the one can not see the other. It’s a cool story and if you are interested in Fiddler and musicals get it a look.
Gun Violence: Yes, this is the next topic since President Obama signed an Executive Action on Gun Violence in America. We’ve got a problem and sure these actions aren’t going to solve all problems and undoubtedly they will be challenged in courts, but this is a good first step. Also Obama had some great ideas when he said “If we can set it up so you can’t unlock your phone unless you’ve got the right fingerprint, why can’t we do the same thing for our guns?” and he wondered why violent felons are able to buy guns online without a background check. For those that like to blame the recurring violence on mental health, Obama says that they should do something about it rather than just say that something needs to be done. Hopefully, however the next election goes something will be done about guns in America and Congress can agree that actions are necessary and that the NRA nor the Second Amendment (bear arms) control the government.
