The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família

Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece La Sagrada Familia is nearing the end of construction. This church has been under construction for 133 years and they are starting to build the final towers  the four for the Evangelists, one for Mary and finally the largest the Jesus tower which will rise 170 meters (560 ft). They are projecting that the towers should be finished by 2026 to mark the centenary of the death of Antoni Gaudi, but who knows when it will be completed. Just look at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine which construction started in 1892 and in the 1920s it was projected that it might take 700 years before it was completed. However since the 1980s no real construction projects have been undertaken. It looks likely that it will remain unfinished for some time yet there is still work going on but it is more restoration projects.  So it look like I should start planning that trip to Barcelona to go see it.
