Girls Education

Over this long weekend I received this in an email from my parents, passing along this interesting slides by the Hoshyar Foundation which is an NGO which promote female education in Pakistan and other places in South Asia where girls tend to be under educated.

So according to the email every time thisĀ  slideshow is watched, the girls’ schools get some money from “Slide Rocket”, the creators of the slideshow.
It is very short only 24 slides and all you have to do is watch nothing else.

I am sure we all know about Malala Yousafzai and her story as she has become the icon of this cause. She had been awarded some major awards for her activism as well The International Children’s Peace Prize The Sakharov Prize, The Simone de Beauvoir Prize, and a bunch of other. Malala was even a highly touted nominee to win the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize.

I hope that you can take some time and watch the slideshow and reflect on the struggle that still exists in the world and this is something that needs to be changed. Women and men need to have the same access to education no matter the country. As we hear in the Book of Genesis male and female He made them in His own image and likeness. Therefore both genders need to have the same rights. Hopefully the work of Malala and others like her can at least bring education to girls around the globe which can only lead to a better future for the world.

If you have some spare money around this time of year perhaps think of donating some of it to Hoshyar or other organizations like it that promote education through out the world.
